I’m jumping on the blogging bandwagon. I have been thinking about it for sometime now. I am inspired to do it because of the wonderful people I have come in contact with in recent years through my Brittle Bark venture (although, I like to think of it more as a journey; or better yet an adventure!). It is my way of reaching out and connecting with these folks.

It occurred to me as I prepared my latest concoctions of wine brittles that debuted today at the Art and Wine Walk in downtown Mechanicsburg that I, myself, am an artist. I express myself through brittle – and all that goes along with it. Of course my Brittle Bark has to look good, taste fabulous and present well; but there is something more than that. It is much more personal. Each brittle variety has a story or memory associated with it.

I thought it might be fun to share these with you. So many people over the years have asked me how I come up with the different varieties. It will take some time though; after all, there are over 20 varieties! This blog will be my “brittle musings,” and a snap shot of Brittle Bark. It is kind of a “peek behind the curtain.” I will also share recipes for using brittle in recipes, give ideas on decorative packaging and gift giving, and definitely introduce you to some of the fine people who I have had the pleasure to cross paths with during my Brittle Bark adventure.

You can feel free to weigh in too! Last week’s Ladies Night Out here at Brittle Bark left me feeling like I wanted this “girlfriend” hangout atmosphere to somehow continue. While I will certainly have more events like that, this too will be a way that we can get together, chat and get to know each other. Enjoy. I hope you’ll check back and share this with a friend and pop into Brittle Bark too!

Diane.
